雖然在近年是挖苦調侃之意，但在技術的本田銷售的豐田那個年代是很貼切的形容。
而civic 1-6代都是很本質的代表。
如同車款的命名civic ,在定價上很便宜符合一般小市民的需求，但在設計上有寬扁的車身及優異的底盤設計，引擎也是各種性能引擎可以更換改裝，也推出type r 及si 等性能款，即便在現在一台車況好的喜美六代跑在山路上依舊如魚得水又快又穩。

當然...近年來的設計趨向舒適取向，台本定價又高不可攀，安全配備又偷工減料，本質一詞成為昂貴售價的最佳形容。
